Grange Insurance Audubon is LEED Gold Certified

Congratulations to the Grange Insurance Audubon Center on achieving LEED-NC Gold Certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

Located in the 84-acre Scioto Audubon Metro Park, the Grange Insurance Audubon Center is one of the first centers to bring hands-on conservation and nature-based learning to the heart of a major American city.  The Audubon Center connects students and visitors to the magnificence of the natural environment while learning about the importance of sustainable strategies, conservation, and habitat restoration.

The 18,000 SF building and grounds has space for educational activities, including three classrooms, a library, a 200-seat multipurpose room, demonstration gardens and an outdoor observation deck.

Some of the sustainable design concepts incorporated in the project included: Brownfield redevelopment, stormwater runoff, geothermal heat pumps, daylight harvesting, recycled materials and more.
