Kettering City Schools Commissioning
Heapy Engineering conducted the Master Plan analysis and designed the Mechanical-Electrical systems for the renovation of eleven schools, a new elementary school, upgraded the Fairmont High School offices, and upgraded the football stadium, including a new sports fitness center and office for the coaches. This project was completed in 2005 with a Mechanical-Electrical construction cost of $49,000,000 and a total construction cost of $102,000,000.
Additionally, Heapy Engineering provided Commissioning Services for the entire school district including follow-through with the operational testing of each system until the system produces the results required – including the energy efficiency required by the contract documents.
Heapy previously designed the Mechanical-Electrical systems to renovate and modernize the 325,000 SF High School. HVAC systems include new unit ventilators in classroom areas with gas hot water boilers. The Commons area and library are conditioned by air handling units served by an air-cooled chiller with ice storage.
Electrical systems include new primary service and distribution to remote transformers and distribution gear. Lighting includes electronic ballast fluorescent lighting.
