Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center
Heapy Engineering designed the Mechanical-Electrical systems for the new detention facility. This center is a five-story juvenile intervention and detention center with 144 beds.
The design included a state of art electrical distribution system with a 600 KW emergency generator to provide electrical back up source for DECS (detention electronics control system) and other essential/critical loads. Additionally, a 30 KVA UPS provides battery back power for the IT network services until the generator assumes the load during an outage. The building was designed according to what research has shown to be the best practices in the field. The facility features an intervention center, court rooms, health services, plant growth lab, warming kitchen, work out area, gymnasium and outdoor activity area.
This project was awarded a 2008 AIA Dayton Honor Award.
