Grange Insurance Audubon Center

Grange_Insurance_Audubon_CenterHeapy Engineering designed the Mechanical-Electrical systems for the Grange Insurance Audubon Center. Like other educational institutions, the Grange Insurance Audubon Center has been working on an interpretive plan that will help drive their programs, building, site, and hands-on educational exhibits.

The $14.5 million Audubon center sits on 5 acres in the 84-acre Scioto Audubon Metro Park.  The 18,000 SF building and grounds has space for educational activities, including Grange_Insurance_Audubon_Center_2three classrooms, a library, a 200-seat multipurpose room, demonstration gardens and an outdoor observation deck.

Heapy also provided LEED Program Management Services and Commissioning Services.  Some Green design principals used include: waterless urinals, geoexchange heat pumps, use of recycled materials, and low VOC finishes.

The Grange Insurance Audubon Center achieved LEED Gold Certification.

This project was awarded a 2009 ABC Ohio Valley Chapter Award of Excellence.
