Lazarus Building

LazarusThis project includes the complete renovation of the 1,000,000 SF former Lazarus Building in downtown Columbus.   Heapy Engineering is providing LEED Commissioning Services for this project.  Heapy has also provided Peer Review of the DD and CD Documents.

Commissioning services for this renovation project include:

  • Chilled water systems
  • Heating hot water systems
  • Air distribution systems
  • Exhaust systems
  • Automatic temperature control system
  • Electrical power distribution system
  • Emergency power system

In addition to Commissioning, the following sustainable design efforts were incorporated into the project:

  • Conserved more than 52,000 tons of building material
  • A 15,000 SF rooftop garden that improves air quality
  • High efficient central cooling system and boiler plant
  • Low emission insulating glass in 266 new windows
  • T-8 fluorescent lights and LED lighting to conserve energy
  • Water conservation through 40,000 gallon basement tank and 50,000 gallon rooftop tank
  • Rainwater recycled to water plants, flush toilets and cool the building
  • Use of waterless urinals, low-flush toilets and low-flow faucets
  • Use of non-toxic carpeting, paint, sealants, adhesives and wall coverings
  • Recycling of 5,500 tons of construction waste
  • Bamboo floors in some spaces

This project was awarded an AIA Columbus 2008 Honor Award. 

 

This project is LEED-CS Gold Certified.
